Department: Quality Assurance           Location: Arcadia, LA

Business Purpose:
To lead the entire quality assurance effort for the Tubular Products Facility of Haynes International, Inc., enterprise wide, using lean manufacturing principles that is focused on customer service and on building strong internal and external relationships; To exhibit strong leadership by setting department vision to implement "best practice" quality assurance methods, improve company profits, and meet customer requirements; To formalize policies/procedures, establish performance metrics, direct/conduct supply chain audits, create quality technical specifications, and provide quality workmanship standards; To develop and implement root cause corrective action for internal and external quality escapes, complaints, and non-conforming conditions; To develop and report key process indicators related to quality level (internal and external), equipment utilization, material flow through inspection, schedule compliance, and others as necessary to measure department effect on business success. To train and supervise staff and hold team accountable for department performance. Execute all commitments in such a manner as to contribute to the Company business plan and sustained success.

Role Qualifications: (Required & Preferred)

Education:

Bachelor's degree (R) in engineering, sciences or business; MSQA (P); ASQ Manager of Quality certification, Lean Manufacturing Principles Training (P)

Experience:
Minimum 10 Years Job Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control positions (R) 2 to 4 Years Job Experience in Supervisory Position (R) Formal Training or 2 to 4 Years Job Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.) (R) 2 to 4 years Job Experience in Work Environment (R) Formal Training or 2 to 4 Years Job Experience in Management Process Development (R)

Areas of Knowledge:
AS9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001AMS, ANSI , Pratt & Whitney, PRl, Boeing, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) specification interpretation and compliance requirements. Statistical Process Control Systems and Cpk measurement techniques (P), Quality control methods and equipment use (R), Change Control Board and Material Review Board participation (P), Lean Principles and Lean Tools (P) Relevant ISO 9000 Standards and QCI's (R) Training in Microsoft Dynamics AX (P) Health & Safety (R)

Skills: Intermediate Computer Literacy and Navigation, Project Management, Process Development, Professionalism, Negotiation, Written Procedure Development, Written and Verbal Communication, Supervisory (All Required)

Specific Accountabilities for the Role:

  1. Quality: Develop and implement a quality plan that encompasses the entire production cycle from raw material to receipt by customer, ensuring Company and customer quality requirements are met for all applicable quality standards and procedures. Maintain all quality certifications and ensure facility is ready for third party audits at all times.
  2. Training: Train staff on quality plan. Coach department teams on daily goals and hold
    teams accountable for proper execution of the quality plan. Ensure staff are trained and qualified to perform required tasks and maintain training currency and records.
  3. Communication: Develop communications tools to proactively communicate product quality (internal and external) status with Colleagues and Senior Management; including in-process non-conformances, root cause and corrective actions, department backlog and forecast impact to schedule, and other key process indicators as needed.
  4. Management: Perform Management duties in a manner consistent with Company culture as to earn Leadership trust and respect of direct reports. Assure that Management Reviews are preformed timely & actions from those meetings are appropriate for the assessed gap(s).
  5. Leadership: Mentor Lab and Inspection Supervisors and hold accountable for the supervision of assigned employees and product flow through their areas; monitor and report on processing schedules, manage overtime, and meet goals set forth by ATF; Maintain positive working relationship with assigned employees, and oversee department.
  6. Spending Management: Provide support to department heads in spending management by assuring the reasonableness and accuracy of account charges for supplies and services; and providing spending/purchasing reports as needed.
