Basic qualifications are:

  •  Must be 18 years old and possess a high school diploma/GED
  • Punctual and regular attendance
  • Possess a bona fide Journeyman Certificate in the Craft or
    Documentation substantiating at least 8 years of related experience in the Craft
  • Successful completion of writing sample
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions (as listed below)
  • Ability to perform he essential physical requirements of the position (as listed below)

Skills requirements are:

  • Mathematics - add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions.
  • Language - Read and interpret the following documents: safety policies; follow all operating and maintenance procedures; follow all emergency procedures and various manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and use communication skills with coworkers.
  • Reasoning ability - ability to apply common sense and understanding; ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions; and the ability to interact with coworkers through communications and acceptance of expectations and accountability.
  • Other skills and abilities: Computer programs for time keeping, work orders, and other required applications.

Essential job functions:

  • Mechanical and electrical troubles, locate cause, determines extent of repair or renewal necessary.
  • Assists, directs, and trains the apprentice in the Vehicle Mechanic classification.
  • Operates various material handling equipment such as floor controlled or overhead cranes, prime movers, work savers, fork lift trucks and hydraulic Cherry Picker in performance of work incidental to the craft, and on occasion may operate a fork truck or man lift in performance of work that is incidental to the craft.
  • Perform routine maintenance of a wide variety of automotive equipment such as Company cars, trucks, power sweepers, fork lift trucks, lawn mowers, and electric carts.
  • Maintains records as required, including equipment maintenance schedule and record covering all types of automotive equipment.
  • Performs in the performance of all necessary phases of work to install new parts, repair damaged parts, aligns and adjust various mechanical and electrical systems and test results of the repairs.
